Investors for the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe have sent the town of Middleboro its promised annual payment, tribal council chairman Cedric Cromwell said. The $250,000 installments are for pre-planning expenses related to a proposed tribal casino in Middleboro. Questions arose over whether the town would receive its yearly check because investors have stopped paying the tribe’s expenses for the time being, according to Cromwell. Tribe leaders have asked the investors to renegotiate the current casino contract, but they have not yet received a reply, the tribal council chairman said yesterday.
